What is MIDI? An Introduction For Guitarists | Too Afraid To Ask

I am in command…

MIDI is a powerful tool, allowing us to control complex hardware and software easily, but what is it?

In the early 80s a digital control standard was introduced to allow keyboards and synths interface with one another, changing the face of live performance.

While our keyboard friends use MIDI to send note and velocity information between control surfaces and sound engines, guitarists utilise MIDI to control our amps, effects and software; commanding complex program changes with the press of a single button.

We take a look at a MIDI controller footswitch to see how MIDI works in this Too Afraid To Ask video.
